KC Streetcar Main Street Extension

Utility line replacements, relocations and repairs

Construction Projects in Kansas City

Utilities, Trenchless Technology

The KC Streetcar Main Street Extension is building upon the downtown streetcar service and advancing a southward extension serving Midtown, Westport, the Art Museum District, the Plaza, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). The Main Street Extension, together with the Downtown starter line and future Riverfront Extension, will form the spine that is essential for supporting an integrated regional transit system that connects people to opportunities and improves the quality of life for citizens throughout the Kansas City region.

Utilities construction undertaken by Kissick Construction will include replacing and upgrading 21,492 linear feet of water mains and service lines. Contractors will also be rehabilitating over 33,000 linear feet of the sewer. Other upgrades include replacing the fire hydrants along the corridor, moving meters outside of buildings where possible, and surveying to find the old trolley track. This work replaces and updates aging infrastructure, preparing the roadway for the Main Street Extension of the KC Streetcar.
